Exam pattern

Quick Setup – 5 mins	A quick check of your identification and system requirements
Adaptive Test – 45 mins	This comprises of all 4 language skills – listening, reading, writing, and speaking – which are evaluated based on a fixed algorithm. Test contents differ from candidate to candidate.

The process is simple and straightforward. You can create a profile on https://englishtest.duolingo.com/home and purchase a test directly.

You can appear for the test any time till 21 days of purchase.

You can pay for your DET by using your credit card/debit card, net banking, or e-wallets.

DET is a home-based test and should be taken from home.

If a registered candidate fails to appear for his/her DET test, he/she is deemed an absentee and a refund will not be applicable.

You will receive your Duolingo English Test results within 48 hours of completing the test.

You are not allowed to keep any note-taking material with you. You will need to keep only a valid ID with you through the test duration.

Once you complete and submit a test, you will need to wait for your results before taking a new test. You may purchase three tests in a 30-day period. This period starts on the day you purchase your first test.
